The
problem as i see now is not if we believe in Nigeria, It is if we
believe in ourselves. If you believe you can succeed in this country, if
you do not believe that the only way to make it is getting a visa for
abroad, if you believe that running away from our problems offers no
solution but means extending it..if you do believe in all these and
more, then no doubt, you believe in Nigeria. Nigeria is not a land
mass, its a people. It is only when we start believing in ourselves, that
we can have faith in Nigeria.
As long as we doubt our ability to succeed here,
we doubt Nigeria's progress. If we get visas to study abroad with the
mindset of never coming back home, we refuse to believe in ourselves,we
refuse to be Nigerians, we doubt Nigeria. If we talk less of our country
with disdain on our national pride, we humiliate Nigeria, we humiliate
ourselves. If we refuse to support policies aimed at bettering the lives
of our people, we drag Nigeria backwards. We must understand that
Nigeria is us and us, Nigeria.
When we expect our leaders to be flawless, we
refuse their human nature. When we criticize destructively, we destroy
the possibility of change. When we give honest and objective critism, we
attract change, we straighten Nigeria's path to success.
When our leadership ends between the walls of
Aso Rock, we limit Nigeria. When we take decisions as leaders to favour
a few friends and to the disfavor of the people, we reduce our
numerical strength and decrease the people's faith in Nigeria.
We must learn to be Nigerians, so when we say
Nigeria is bad...we know we are saying we are bad. If you cant condemn
yourselves, dont condemn Nigeria. We are Nigeria, Nigeria is us, a
people not a land mass.
