The PDP governors had a meeting sometime in September, 2014, where
they decided that President Goodluck Jonathan should be the only
candidate fielded by the party
President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election ambition has received a boost as all the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors have chosen him to be the party’s sole candidate for next year’s elections.
The governors reportedly met at the Akwa Ibom Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.
Those
present at the meeting include, Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Sullivan
Chime (Enugu), Jonah Jang (Plateau), Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Theodore
Orji (Abia), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe), Idris Wada (Kogi), Liyel Imoke
(Cross River), Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta), Ramallan Yero (Kaduna),
Gabriel Suswam (Benue), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Saidu Dakingari (
Kebbi); Ahmadu Fintiri (Acting governor of Adamawa) and Umar Garba
(acting governor or Taraba).
The Jigawa, Katsina,
Sokoto and Nasarawa states governors were each represented by their
deputies - Mahmoud Gumel (Jigawa), Abdullahi Faskari (Katsina), Mukhtar
Shagari (Sokoto), and Damishi Luka (Nasarawa).
The meeting was presided over by the Governor of Akwa Ibom, Godswill Akpabio, who reportedly said:
"The
Forum hereby endorses President Jonathan for a second term in office
and resolved to support his bid for re-election come 2015.”
All the PDP governors were present at the meeting except Isa Yuguda of Bauchi, and Martin Elechi of Ebonyi.
