Uduaghan who gave the assurance when he visited the head of Koko
Community, Warri North Local Government Area, Chief Victor Nana on
Saturday explained that as part of his administration's peace and
security agenda, he has put mechanisms aimed at forestalling violence
and crisis during the polls.
According to him, aspirants of the
various political parties and the communities have been adequately
sensitized and enlightened to resolve all issues amicably to guarantee
peace, security and safety on election days.
Dr. Uduaghan
reiterated his appeal to aspirants to continue to go about their
campaigns in a peaceful manner and concentrate on the programmes they
have for the people of the state rather than embarking on blackmail and
acts that could heat up the polity.
He promised to address the
issues of inadequate personnel at the Iwere College and the Koko General
Hospital said to be confronting the two establishments, assuring that
he would ensure that projects initiated by his administration were given
due attention.
Chief Victor Nana expressed gratitude to the
governor for the prevailing peace and security in the state and in Warri
North but pleaded with him to impress it on political office seekers to
eschew violence and acts that could jeopardize the peace in his
locality.
Chief Nana had called the governor's attention to the
challenge of inadequate personnel at the Iwere College and the Koko
General Hospital.
Meanwhile, Governor Uduaghan has advised members
of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Warri North Local Government
not to allow themselves to be used to create violence in the run up to
the October 25 council polls.
Governor Uduaghan who was addressing
members of the party in Koko, reminded them that peace and security was
the cornerstone of his administration, warning that he would not fold
his hands and allow anyone disrupt the existing peace in the state.
He
told the gathering that he has not anointed any aspirant in the area in
the forthcoming elections and advised against causing violence under
the guise of working for his preferred candidates but urged them to vote
for the PDP Chairmanship candidate, Mr. Francis Maku-Eyituoyor.
