If Nigerians fail to re-elect President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term in 2015, it will be a disaster for the nation, this is according to former Commander of the Army Finance Corps, Gen.Charles Airhiavbere.
Airhiavbere, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, stated that President Jonathan is receiving the backing of majority of Nigerians for a second term due to his sincerity in solving the nation’s problems.
The military man turned politician, who contested against governor Adams Oshiomhole in 2012 and also an aspirant for the 2016 governorship election in Edo state, regretted that the achievements of President Jonathan are sometimes being over shadowed due to politics.

He said: “We are backing the re-election of President Jonathan because he is sincere and honest about fixing the problems of Nigeria.

“He has achieved a lot that people may be due to politics they don’t want to see it but he has achieved better than any President of this country despite the challenges he is facing today.
“That is why we are supporting him and not because he is a PDP leader. He means well for Nigeria and we don’t want this nation to be destroyed.
“Jonathan has the vision to fix Nigeria and Nigerians must support him for a second term.
“He is one President that has achieved in every sector of the economy so it will be a disaster if he refuses to come back as President and I am appealing to Nigerians to help so that he can come back, we don’t want this nation to be a disaster.”
Commenting on his governorship ambition in 2016, Airhiavbere stated that “we are only focus now for the re-election of President Jonathan and after that we move to 2016 governorship in Edo state.
“I am in the race seriously and I believe that I am better equipped now to lead the people of my state.”
It would be recalled that the incumbent president was last month chosen by the ruling party PDP as its sole candidate for the presidential election in 2015.
Reacting to the news, President Jonathan said he was humbled and overwhelmed by the decision, promising not to disappoint the PDP governors, the leaders, stakeholders and members of the party.
