Abba Moro Is Sure Nigerians Will Vote For Jonathan In 2015

The Minister of Interior Abba Moro expressed confidence that the achievements of President Goodluck Jonathan and the concepts of his transformation agenda would ensure a comfortable win for the Nigerian leader at the February 2015 general elections.

The minister spoke about the possible outcome of the polls during a press briefing in Makurdi, Benue state, on October 31, 2014, Friday.
Moro commended Jonathan for the courage of picking the PDP’s nomination forms.

The minister noted that Nigerians see the benefits of the transformation programme every day, and the key sectors of the national economy are in the stage of revitalisation.

Moro praised the way President Jonathan was handling the rise of insurgency in Nigeria, added that this process is being accomplished “on three fronts: engagement, consultation and contentment.”
Advertisement He further reminded of the decisive role the 2015 general elections would play in the history of Nigeria.

“Most governors are doing their last tenure, the president will not run in 2019, therefore the choice of leaders in 2015 will shape the political direction of the country after the 2015 elections,” he said, reminding that the right choice of a president is especially important for lifting Nigerian to the next level.

Commenting on the defection of the Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), the minister expressed confidence that this move would not in any way jeopardise chances of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), particularly in the North.

Moro noted that politics in Nigeria consist of defections, and while the ruling party lost Tambuwal, it gained several APC bigwigs who decamped to the PDP.

According to the minister, from political point of view this defection may not be considered as surprising: Tambuwal has always been on the move. He left the ANPP for PDP. Now he is an APC member, but one should keep in mind that the APC is “the precursor of the ANPP”.

In conclusion Moro said that President Jonathan’s decision to run for the presidency was in the best interest of the country and expressed confidence that the Nigerian leader would surpass his performance in 2011 by winning a large margin in 2015.

It would be recalled that the Minister of Interior came under huge pressure to resign due to poorly-organised National Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment, which resulted in death of at least 19 applicants across Nigeria.
